Thanks to its often-sunny skies, Scottsdale is an easy city to explore while still keeping your (social) distance. These are some of our favorite ways to spend time while staying safe and healthy, and just a quick trip from Sanctuary.

Golf

Golf is both a popular pastime and the poster child for socially distanced activities. Make your way through one of Scottsdale’s many championship courses. Check out eight of our favorite courses in the Scottsdale area.

Kayak the Salt River

Getting outside is always a great option. If you head to the Salt River, you’ll also be able to keep cool during hot Scottsdale days. Rent a kayak or stand up paddleboard and head out on the river, most of which is wide and slow-moving so you can take a dip as you please.

Desert Botanical Garden

The Desert Botanical Garden is one of Scottsdale’s most beloved attractions. Its breathtaking blooms and educational exhibits will get you up close and personal with desert flora and fauna. Pre-purchase a ticket to secure admission at a time that works for you.

Shopping

Whether you opt for Old Town Scottsdale or upscale Biltmore Fashion Park, shopping is always a great option. Take advantage of the city’s countless shopping and if you’re in town on a Thursday, head back to Old Town for the ever-popular Scottsdale Art Walk.

Old Town Scottsdale

The old and the new come together in Old Town Scottsdale, featuring a proliferation of the city’s best shops, art galleries, museums, and award-winning restaurants. Founded in the late 1800s, Old Town Scottsdale pays tribute to its historic roots through Indian and western-inspired designs, souvenir shops, and diverse dining options. The area also offers nearly 100 galleries, as well as easily walkable streets that make the perfect pair for warm Arizona evenings. Our insider tip? Head to the heart of Old Town Scottsdale at 5th Avenue and Scottsdale Road to peruse the Fifth Avenue Shops, featuring an eclectic array of shops, from gifts to jewelry, antiques to southwestern designer duds.
